On March, 26 a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan visited the Tula Testing Laboratory of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Central Scientific and Methodological Veterinary Laboratory” (FGBI CSMVL).
The visit of foreign colleagues to the Tula Oblast took place in the framework of an audit of the Russian system of veterinary control and assessment of the principle of regionalization of the Russian Federation with regard to highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture of the Tula Oblast Dmitry Milyayev, Chairman of the Regional Veterinary Committee and Chief Veterinary Officer of the Tula Oblast Sergey Kozhevnikov, Head of the Export Support and Inspection Department of the Rosselkhoznadzor Maxim Makarenko, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for Moscow, the Moscow and Tula Oblasts Oksana Knyazeva, Head of the Veterinary Surveillance Department of the Tula Oblast Vladislav Stefanovich and Head of the Laboratory for Epidemiology and Monitoring of the FGBI ARRIAH Mikhail Volkov.
During the visit, the Japanese side thoroughly familiarized themselves with the work of the laboratory testing departments paying particular attention to the units responsible for diagnosis and prevention of various animal and bird diseases, including highly pathogenic avian influenza. The visitors received information on test methods used in the Tula Testing Laboratory for detection of avian influenza, as well as the equipment available for this purpose.
It should be noted that in 2018 the laboratory testing departments conducted 27,429 tests for detection of avian influenza in the Tula Oblast. Pathological material, feces, eggs, chicken embryos, poultry meat and offal were tested. No positive results were recorded.
The Japanese delegation highly assessed the activities of the Tula Testing Laboratory of the FGBI CSMVL and noted the competence and professionalism of its specialists.
