On March 30 the final meeting of representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan was held in the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI All-Russian State Center for Quality and Standardization of Veterinary Drugs for Animals and Feeds (FGBI “VGNKI”).
As it was earlier reported, the Japanese experts had conducted an audit (inspection) of the veterinary control system operating in Russia during the previous week. The experts also inspected two Russian establishments for production of finished meat products.
As part of their mission the Japanese inspectors visited the Bryansk, Tula and Oryol Oblasts. In addition, the Japanese experts familiarized themselves with the scientific activities of the FGBI “ARRIAH” which is the OIE Reference Laboratory for Highly Pathogenic and Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease. The parties reviewed in detail the epidemic situation of especially dangerous animal and avian diseases in the Russian Federation.
During the final meeting the Japanese colleagues requested a translation into English of all the presentations and documents received during the visit, including the presentations shown at the two above-mentioned establishments.
It was noted that the preliminary inspection results will be announced next week during telephone conversations.
The Rosselkhoznadzor thanked the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan for the visit to Russia and said that the priority task of the Service is to realize the country's export potential taking into account the strict official control of compliance of products supplied to foreign markets with the requirements of the importing country. In turn the Japanese colleagues expressed gratitude to the Rosselkhoznadzor for the large-scale activities carried out within the framework of the visit’s organization, hospitality and high efficiency in work.
