On April 26, 2019 Tunisia hosted the 7th meeting of the Russian-Tunisian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation which was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Rosselkhoznadzor.
Previously, on April 24-25, within the framework of expert consultations the Russian and Tunisian parties negotiated the Protocol provisions of the above-mentioned meeting in terms of agricultural cooperation.
The Parties articulated their intentions to boost the volumes of mutual trade in agricultural products between the two states on mutually beneficial conditions.
Besides, during expert consultations the Tunisian party submitted a copy of the harmonized animal health certificate for table eggs and egg products exported from Russia to Tunisia. The Russian delegation also presented a letter with comments to animal health certificates for export of finished meat products, milk and dairy products, meat from small ruminants, beef and poultry meat from Russia to Tunisia.
The Russian side expressed its gratitude to the Tunisian colleagues for harmonizing of the above-mentioned certificate and assured the Tunisian party of a prompt consideration of the produced comments.
The Parties agreed to review the comments within the framework of the 87th OIE General Session in Paris on May 26-31, 2019.
The Tunisian colleagues stated their readiness to meet a Russian delegation for inspection of fish-processing establishments and said that they would soon inform the Rosselkhoznadzor of the time period of such an inspection by an official letter.
In the meeting Protocol the Parties indicated that establishments producing livestock products interested in exports to the markets of two countries would be inspected by the end of 2019 on principle of mutuality.
Besides, the Parties agreed to prop up cooperation in terms of control bodies in the field of quality, safety and phytosanitary condition of grains and products thereof, including the exchange of current requirements.
