On May 26, Moscow hosted between the FSVPS representatives and the delegation of the Food Security Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, timed to the end of the visit of the Azerbaijani colleagues to Russia.
The purpose of the visit was to study the Russian system of veterinary control in terms of ensuring epidemic, biological and food safety in the country.
The Azerbaijani delegation thanked the FSVPS for the high level of organization of the mission, stressing that thanks to a rich and well-designed program, it was possible to get a complete picture of the Russian livestock production, manufacturing facilities and veterinary surveillance mechanisms. Azerbaijani representatives mentioned good training and level of knowledge of veterinary specialists in the field and mentioned that they were impressed with the work and equipment of FSVPS scientific centers and laboratories. In this regard, the negotiators discussed the possibility of sharing experience and training Azerbaijani specialists in methods of animal disease diagnosis and detecting abnormalities in food products used in these institutions.
The Azerbaijani party is also interested in conducting a joint risk analysis of dangerous animal diseases in the border areas and development of a general program to prevent their introduction and spread, including through vaccination. In addition, the participants discussed advanced courses for specialists involved in inspecting manufacturers of veterinary medicinal products conducted in the FGBU “VGNKI”.
For its part, the FSVPS thanked the delegation for the work done and stressed that the visit would allow developing Russian-Azerbaijani relations in a constructive manner.
In conclusion, the Azerbaijani representatives invited the FSVPS to pay a return visit in order to familiarize themselves with the work of the Food Safety Agency, which was established a year ago and which controls food production according to the “field-to-fork” principle.
