On May 24, 2018, on the margins of the 86th General Session of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in Paris Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Konstantin Savenkov held a meeting with Director of the Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security of the Republic of Botswana Mr. G. Modisa.
The negotiations took place on the initiative of the Botswana side to discuss the possibility of supplying beef to the Russian market.
The representatives of the Republic of Botswana noted that the production of livestock products is one of the main directions of the country's agricultural sector. Botswana manufacturing companies are aimed at increasing the volume of beef exports to the Russian market.
Konstantin Savenkov explained to Botswana colleagues about the functioning of a clear step-by-step system for access of livestock products to the Russian market, the first stage of which is the assessment of the veterinary surveillance system of the country interested in supplying its products to Russia.
The Botswana side invited the Russian specialists to conduct an inspection of Botswana beef establishments during 2018.
Besides, Mr. G. Modisa expressed interest in imports of vaccines and medicines for animals from the Russian Federation, and also stressed the importance of sharing experiences of Botswana and Russian scientists in the field of veterinary medicine.
Konstantin Savenkov expressed readiness to assist in organizing a meeting of Botswana specialists with the staff of FGBI "ARRIAH" with the aim of further cooperation of both countries on this issue.
