Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yulia Shvabauskene held a closing meeting with the delegation from the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Agriculture on December 19 to discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation in agriculture. The representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the FGBI “Federal Centre for Quality Assessment of Grain and Grain Products”, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor also took part in the meeting.
The delegation of the competent authority from the Republic of Indonesia visited Russia in order to get acquainted with the national system, ensuring safety and quality of grain and grain products, as well as with the plant quarantine control system. The Indonesian specialists familiarized themselves with the activities of testing laboratories and institutions, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor (FGBI “Federal Centre for Quality Assessment of Grain and Grain Products” and FGBI “All-Russian Plant Quarantine Centre”).
The closing meeting took place in the Rosselkhoznadzor Headquarters.
Yulia Shvabauskene noted a positive dynamics in interrelations between plant quarantine competent authorities of both countries and informed that thanks to concerted efforts of the authorities more than 1.6 million tons of wheat were exported from Russia to Indonesia in 2017-2018 agricultural year. Indonesia is the 12th largest importer of the Russian wheat.
Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor stressed that it is necessary to continue the successful cooperation, increase the amounts of supplied Russian wheat and expand the list of exported Russian grain crops.
In 2018, Russia was authorized to export soybeans and corn into Indonesia. Moreover, there is a great export capacity to start supplying rye and peas to Indonesia.
The Indonesian partners agreed that this issue should be addressed and noted a high level of grain and grain product safety and quality assurance in Russia.
The delegation from the Republic of Indonesia got acquainted with the test methods and appreciated the equipment of the Rosselkhoznadzor laboratories and the competence of the specialists. The Indonesian party expressed the wish to establish the scientific and technical cooperation between the research institutes of both countries and requested the list of all Russian institutes, dealing with plant quarantine and assurance of grain and grain product safety.
The Russian party will provide this information to the competent authority of Indonesia in the nearest future.
During the talks, supplies of tropical fruits, primarily of mangoes and rambutans, from Indonesia to Russia were also discussed. Yulia Shvabauskene noted that the Rosselkhoznadzor was ready to address this issue. A new level of cooperation between two competent authorities, involving introduction of electronic certificates, was negotiated during the meeting.
Yulia Shvabauskene noted that the Rosselkhoznadzor was successful in this area and was ready to consider the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for Russian plant products, exported to Indonesia, completely in electronic form. It is necessary to discuss it on the technical level.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the established fruitful cooperation.
