On the initiative of the Rosselkhoznadzor, in the period from April 15 to April 19, 2019, the specialists of the Service paid a working visit to the Republic of Turkey in order to obtain the official information confirming export supplies of fresh apples to the Russian Federation and the European Union member-countries.
The visit was prompted by the previously imposed ban on the import of Turkish apples accompanied by Belorussian re-export phytosanitary certificates into the Russian Federation.
In the course of the visit, the Rosselkhoznadzor specialists familiarized themselves with the system of phytosanitary controls exercised by the Turkish Service and with the phytosanitary certificate issuance procedure for fruit and vegetable products, visited large establishments engaged in apple production and export.
The Turkish party noted that the main supplies of those fruits to the Russian Federation were shipped by sea to the ports of the Krasnodar Krai, as well as confirmed that apples were transported to Russia and the EU countries by road.
Besides, the Turkish party provided complete information on apple export volumes.
In order to obtain objective information on Turkish apple re-export from Belarus to Russia, the Rosselkhoznadzor had invited the Belorussian colleagues to take part in the said visit but the Belorussian party had refused.
