Rosselkhoznadzor Subordinate FGBI “VNIIKR” Held Round Table on Importing Countries’ Compliance With the Requirements

On November 28, within the framework of the Collegium of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center” (FGBI “ VNIIKR”) Aleksey Scheglov held a round table on “ Compliance with the requirements of importing countries for export of plant products”.

The scientists and specialists of the scientific-methodical and practical center of the Service in the field of plant quarantine, representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Bryansk and Smolensk Oblasts, representatives of the FGBI "Bryansk IVL" took part in the event. 

Svetlana Zemchenkova, Acting Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Bryansk and Smolensk Oblasts, discussed the issues arising in the registration of accompanying documents for export consignments of food potatoes.

Researchers of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center gave explanations on the required scope of laboratory tests, the timing of test results and the list of indicators, according to the requirements of the countries importing potatoes from Russia.

The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the complex types of research carried out in the FGBI "VNIIKR" Testing Laboratory Center using modern diagnostic methods, including DNA sequencing. This method allows to carry out species identification of agents with an accuracy of 99.9%, for example, Andean potato latent viruses.

The result of the round table was development and approval of a joint comprehensive program, which includes organization and implementation of Interlaboratory Comparison Testing (ILC), a program of additional professional education for specialists of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate institutions.

The specialists of the scientific center also plan to develop and implement rapid tests for their application in all testing laboratories of the Service.
