Another Dead Boar Detected in Poland
As the Rosselkhoznadzor learned from the Polish media on the
19th May this year, a dead boar was detected in a pond close to Wałbrzych, Lower
Silesian Voivodeship located in the south-western part of Poland not far from
the Czech border. The dead animal was detected by one of the residents who took
several attempts to notify different services about the situation. The dead
animal was caught and taken away only after the resident of the city said she
was going to request assistance at the local prosecutor’s office, since she had
not get the expected response. The Polish media provide no further information
on the situation.
Unfortunately, despite numerous requests for the national
veterinary services of Poland the Rosselkhoznadzor has so far received no
documented results of the epidemic investigation into this and other similar
cases, whereas African swine fever was still reported in the country.
The disease spread in population of wild boars may have
rather drastic consequences for Poland and countries bordering on Poland.
